Ecuador - Higher Ed - Willy Ordoñez

Hi Friends!

My name is William Ordoñez, I’m 27 years old and I live in Quito, Ecuador.

I am a part of La Roca Skate Ministry, which is one of the nine ministries of Youth World, and I am really thankful to our Lord for the opportunity to be part of this big, amazing family.

Growing up with only my mom and my siblings was challenging in many ways. Seeing my mom working hard, especially without a full academic experience, to raise me and all of my siblings showed me how tough life can be, but it also showed me how good and amazing God is.

Out of all the values I learned from my mom, I will always be thankful for how patient she was teaching and leading me to the Lord and how to follow Him. Because of that, God made me part of the Youth World family to help me grow in the areas that my mom was not able to because of my bad attitude. Finding the skateboarding ministry was, is, and will always be one of the best moments of my life. I found Jesus there for the first time in what I consider the lowest moment in my life, and since then my life has been transformed in a lot of ways, to the point that I am serving Him and using my life for His purpose.

Now, after a couple of years walking with the Lord and serving Him, I have the desire to keep growing not only spiritually but also professionally. I strongly believe that we are used by God as tools in His hands for His glory. Because of that, I want to be a tool in his hands, able and ready to be used by the master at any time in anything He wants. I recently read a book called Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper and since that day all I want is to be used by the Lord and not become a forgotten tool in the garage of the master because I am not ready or for some other reason.

Now, I have a chance to go back to college and study marketing. I have been dreaming of this for a while now - for the opportunity to study marketing and get my degree so I can be a better help for my family and for the ministry. It would be great to do the things I enjoy and I am capable of doing, not just with my heart, but with the knowledge I can get at school as well. I want to use these skills and knowledge to let others know more about Jesus and what He is doing at La Roca or wherever He wants to be proclaimed.

Having this opportunity is a blessing, but I can’t do this by myself. I want to invite you to walk with me in this journey, first by supporting me in prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool and if I am to finish this degree, I will need lots of prayer. Secondly, please prayerfully consider supporting me financially as well. The cost of my education is around $1,700 per semester and I need your help to be able to reach this goal. I am grateful that my program is online so that I can keep serving and helping the ministry while I develop my professional skills. This will be a long journey, but with your help, I will be able to put these skills to use in God’s kingdom.

Going back to college has been a long process, but I can happily say God is in control and doing this according to His will. Please give as you can and feel free to contact me to stay updated on my education or with any other questions you may have.

Thank you for your consideration and I can’t wait to begin this journey together. God bless you!
